Final Cut Pro's organizational structure is unique, built around Libraries, Events, and Projects (timelines). While searching within a single Event is straightforward, searching across multiple Projects and Events requires understanding how the Library level works.

Here is how to search multiple projects in Final Cut Pro.

## 1. Understand the Library Hierarchy
Final Cut Pro organizes your work in a specific hierarchy:
* **Library:** The top-level container (like a master hard drive).
* **Event:** Folders within the Library that hold media and Projects.
* **Project:** The actual timeline where you edit.

To search across multiple Projects, they must all be contained within the same Library, and that Library must be open.

## 2. Select the Library Level
This is the crucial step most editors miss.

1. Look at the sidebar on the left side of the screen (the Libraries sidebar).
2. Do not select a specific Event or a specific Project.
3. Instead, click on the **Library icon itself** at the very top of the list (it looks like a small filing cabinet with four stars).

By selecting the Library level, you are telling Final Cut Pro to search everything contained within it.

## 3. Use the Browser Search Bar
Now you can execute your search.

1. Go to the search bar located at the top right of the Browser window (the area displaying your clips).
2. Type your search query. You can search for clip names, marker text, keywords, or notes.
3. Final Cut Pro will instantly filter the Browser to show every clip, from every Event and every Project within that Library, that matches your query.

## Limitations
It's important to note that Final Cut Pro cannot easily search across *closed* Libraries. If you have footage spread across multiple Library files on different hard drives, you must open them all first, and then you will likely need to search each Library individually by selecting its top-level icon.
