How to add 2D and 3D titles on the Edit page in DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve Edit page includes text generators, subtitle generators, and over 100 Fusion title templates for 2D and 3D animated titles. This guide covers creating, customizing, and animating titles directly on the timeline.
How do you add titles on the Edit page in DaVinci Resolve?
Open the Effects Library and click the Titles category. Drag a Text generator or Fusion title template onto a video track above your footage in the timeline. Select the title clip and use the Inspector to type your text and adjust font, size, color, spacing, and alignment. Basic title generators let you build simple titles and lower thirds from scratch. The subtitle generator creates timed subtitles. Over 100 Fusion title tools provide pre-built 2D and 3D animated titles that you can customize without being a motion graphics expert.

How do you customize Fusion titles on the Edit page?
Fusion title templates appear as clips on the timeline. Select the clip and the Inspector shows the template's customizable parameters — text, font, color, size, position, and animation controls. Double-click the title clip to open it in the Fusion page for deeper customization including node-level adjustments, custom animations, and material changes.
For editors who frequently use the same title designs, save customized Fusion titles as local templates. Right-click the title clip in the timeline and select "Create Template." The saved template appears in the Effects Library for reuse in any project.
How do you create subtitles using the Edit page?
Drag the Subtitle generator from the Titles category onto the timeline above your video. In the Inspector, type the subtitle text and set the timing by trimming the clip edges. Add subtitles for different sections by placing multiple subtitle clips sequentially. The Subtitle generator supports multi-line text, positioning, and styling including font, size, color, background, and outline options.
