## How do you sync audio and video in DaVinci Resolve Media page?

Select the audio and video clips in the media pool that you want to sync. Use the Sync command from the right-click menu or the toolbar. Resolve offers three sync methods: timecode alignment, audio waveform matching, and manual sync. Once synced, the audio and video are merged as a single clip in the media pool without rendering new media.

## How does timecode sync work in the Media page?

If your camera and audio recorder share the same timecode — either jam-synced on set or matching from a smart slate — select the clips and choose Sync by Timecode. Resolve aligns the clips automatically based on their timecode metadata. This is the fastest and most accurate sync method for professional productions with proper timecode workflows.

## How does waveform sync work in the Media page?

If timecode is not available, select the clips and choose Sync by Waveform. Resolve analyzes the audio waveform from the camera's onboard microphone and the waveform from the external audio recorder, then aligns them at the point where the waveforms match most closely. This works well when the camera audio provides a usable reference track.

## How do you manually sync audio and video in the Media page?

Move the playhead to a sync point — such as a clapperboard clap — in the picture viewer. Move the playhead to the corresponding frame in the audio viewer. Click the Link button to mark the sync relationship. Repeat for additional sync points if needed. Manual sync is useful for footage without timecode where the waveform match is unreliable.

## Does syncing create new media files?

No. Resolve manages the sync relationship in the project database without creating new media files. The synced clip references the original audio and video files separately. This is non-destructive and preserves the original camera files for conform and finishing.

For editors who pre-sync footage in Cutsio, the timeline exported via EDL arrives in Resolve with clips already positioned. Double-system sound workflows benefit from Cutsio's transcript-based editing — sync audio transcripts with video in Cutsio before exporting to Resolve.
