## How do bins work in DaVinci Resolve Media page?

Bins are folders in the media pool used to organize footage. Create bins just like folders on your hard drive, then drag footage into them. The media page displays your bin structure on the left and the contents of the selected bin on the right. Three bin types are available: standard bins for manual organization, Smart Bins for automatic metadata-based filtering, and Power Bins for reusable assets across all projects.

## How do Smart Bins work in the Media page?

Smart Bins use metadata rules to automatically organize clips. Create a Smart Bin and define rules based on resolution, codec, frame rate, camera type, date, keywords, or any metadata field. The bin updates automatically as new footage is added. For example, create a Smart Bin that shows only 4K clips flagged green, or only clips from a specific camera model. Smart Bins are always kept up to date without manual intervention.

## How do Power Bins work in the Media page?

Power Bins are visible across all projects on your system. Save reusable assets such as graphics, logos, title templates, sound effects, and stock clips to a Power Bin, and they are available in every project without re-importing. This eliminates duplicate asset management and ensures consistent branding across projects.

## How does AI face detection organize clips in the Media page?

The DaVinci AI Neural Engine can detect people in your footage and organize clips based on who appears in them. The AI analyzes faces across all imported clips and groups them by person. Label individuals to search for them by name. This is particularly useful for documentary and event footage where you need to find every clip containing a specific subject.

## How do customizable bin views work?

Bin views can be customized to show thumbnails, list details, or filmstrip views. Sort clips by name, date, duration, or any metadata field. You can open as many bin windows as needed, allowing you to drag clips between bins without losing your place.

For editors who pre-organize footage in Cutsio, collections in Cutsio map to bins in Resolve. Export an EDL with the collection structure, and the bins are created automatically on import.
