## How do you view and edit metadata in DaVinci Resolve Media page?

The Media page includes a metadata inspector to view and edit over 200 different metadata parameters for every clip. Select a clip in the media pool, and the metadata inspector displays all available fields. DaVinci Resolve works with both file-level metadata (imported from the source file) and frame-level metadata (from camera log files). You can enter custom keywords and tags, and create your own custom sets of metadata.

## What metadata fields are available in the Media page?

Pre-defined metadata groups let you quickly view camera information (model, lens, ISO, shutter, aperture, color space), production details (scene, shot, take, date, director, camera operator), audio information (sample rate, bit depth, channels, timecode), and file information (name, format, resolution, frame rate, duration, codec). Over 200 total parameters are available across all groups.

## How do you create custom metadata views?

Open the metadata inspector and select "Customize Metadata View." Choose which fields to display from the full list of available parameters. Save the view with a name — for example, "Camera Settings" for technical review or "Production Notes" for script supervision. Switch between views using the dropdown menu in the metadata inspector.

## How do metadata tags change clip display names?

Metadata tags can change the display names for clips using scene, shot, and take information. In the metadata inspector, configure the clip naming template to use `{Scene}_{Shot}_{Take}` format. Clips are displayed with descriptive names like `Scene1_ShotA_Take2` instead of camera-generated filenames like `C004_0123.MOV`. This eliminates manual file renaming and keeps the media pool organized.

For editors who pre-organize footage in Cutsio, collections and tags in Cutsio map to metadata fields in Resolve. Export an EDL that preserves the organizational structure, and the metadata flows through to the Resolve project automatically.
