## How do you adjust clip level and pan in DaVinci Resolve Fairlight?

Each clip in the Fairlight timeline has its own volume, pan, pitch, and 6-band parametric EQ controls. Adjust clip volume by raising or lowering the clip gain line in the middle of the clip. Fade handles on the sides of clips let you quickly add fade ins and fade outs. Hold Option (Alt on Windows) and click on the gain line to add keyframes, then drag to adjust the level over time.

The clip gain line is the fastest way to adjust volume. Click and drag the line up to increase gain or down to reduce it. The waveform updates in real time to reflect the change. For precise level adjustments, use the level slider in the clip inspector.

Pan controls are available in the clip inspector. Set the stereo position — left, center, right, or anywhere between. For surround and immersive formats, the panner provides 3D positioning controls.

## How does pitch adjustment work in Fairlight?

The pitch control in the clip inspector lets you change the pitch of an audio clip without affecting its duration. Adjust pitch in semitone increments — +2 for a two-semitone pitch increase, -3 for a three-semitone decrease. The pitch shift uses high-quality resampling that preserves audio clarity for moderate adjustments.

Pitch adjustment is useful for correcting off-key vocals, creating sound design effects, or matching audio from different sources. For larger pitch shifts, use Elastic Wave retiming which allows time-stretching without pitch change.

## How do you normalize audio levels in Fairlight?

Right-click on any clip and select "Normalize" from the context menu. The normalization command analyzes the clip's peak level and adjusts the gain so the loudest sample reaches the target level — typically -1 dB or -3 dB to leave headroom for mixing.

Normalization is the fastest way to ensure consistent levels across clips from different sources. Normalize all clips before starting the mix, then use the clip gain line and faders for creative level adjustments.
