The best way to fix audio sync issues in DaVinci Resolve is to transcode Variable Frame Rate media to a constant frame rate, use the Auto-Sync Audio feature, or snap nudged clips back together.

Here are the direct methods to best fix audio sync issues in DaVinci Resolve.

## What is the fastest way to auto-sync external audio?
If you recorded high-quality audio on a separate microphone but it is not lining up with your camera's scratch audio, you must force DaVinci Resolve to sync them using waveforms.

To quickly auto-sync external audio:
1. Open the **Media Pool** on the Edit Page.
2. Select both the video clip and the external audio file.
3. Right-click the selected files and choose **Auto Sync Audio > Based on Waveform**.
4. DaVinci Resolve will analyze the audio peaks and instantly replace the camera's bad audio with the high-quality external file.

## How do you fix Variable Frame Rate (VFR) drift?
If the audio starts perfectly in sync but slowly drifts out of sync over several minutes, the source video was recorded with a Variable Frame Rate (common with iPhones and screen recorders).

To fix VFR drift before editing:
1. Close DaVinci Resolve.
2. Download a free transcoding software like Handbrake.
3. Import your VFR video into Handbrake, go to the **Video** tab, select **Constant Framerate**, and set it to match your intended project frame rate (e.g., 60 fps).
4. Export the new video and replace the original clip in DaVinci Resolve. The audio will now remain locked in sync.

## How do you snap accidentally nudged clips?
If you accidentally moved an audio clip out of sync with its video on the timeline, use the Out of Sync Indicator to snap it back.

To snap nudged clips:
1. Look for the red or green number (e.g., `+12` or `-05`) on the audio and video clips in the timeline. This is the **Out of Sync Indicator**.
2. Right-click the red/green number.
3. Select **Slip into Sync** to instantly realign the audio and video waveforms back to their original recorded positions.
